The Bard is back!
Five of England’s top Shakespearean actors bring Shakespeare’s Hamlet to Wellesley College for three free performances: October 18th, 19th and 20th at 7 pm at the Diana Chapman Walsh Alumnae Hall Auditorium.

The Actors From The London Stage (AFTLS) present Hamlet in a unique actor-driven
production. The ghost of Hamlet’s father appears, setting in motion a story of love, revenge
and loss in one of Shakespeare’s greatest plays. Featuring Madeleine Hyland as Hamlet,
with actors Grace Andrews, Peter Bray, Ben Eagle and Wendy Morgan completing this
amazing company.
AFTLS is one of the oldest established touring Shakespeare companies in the world. Coming
from such prestigious companies as the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre
of Great Britain and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, these classically trained actors are
equally dedicated to presenting first-rate professional performances at American colleges and
universities, and to working with students to bring Shakespeare’s work alive. Part of their stated mission is to “get students up out of their chairs and act with them to learn how Shakespeare’s texts become scripts, words become actions and actions become meaning.”
The group will be at Wellesley for a weeklong residency, October 15-22, 2018. In addition to performing, they will teach workshops for Wellesley’s Theatre Studies Program and English department students.
This will be AFTLS’s thirteenth visit to the Wellesley campus. Past productions include Measure for Measure, Richard III, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, an IRNE award-winning production of Othello, The Merchant of Venice, The Tempest, King Lear, The Winter’s Tale, Macbeth and Hamlet.
